Huw marks 10th anniversary of Winterbourne View Hospital scandal

Local MP Huw Merriman spoke in a Westminster Hall Debate to mark ten years since the Winterbourne View Hospital Scandal. 

Mr Merriman, who also chairs the All Party Parliamentary Group on Autism, highlighted that a lack of appropriate community support and issues with legislation has seen the number and proportion of identified autistic people in inpatient facilities has increased by 18% since 2015, with an average stay of 5.6 years.
