Huw Speaks in Transport Debate

Local MP and Chair of the Transport Select Committee Huw Merriman spoke all things planes, trains and automobiles in today's Transport Debate. 

In summary, Huw spoke about: 

  • Encouraging Local Transport Authorities to learn from best practice with regard to the Bus Service Improvement Plan.
  • How the private sector can continue to boost rail passenger numbers once Great British Railways comes to fruition. 
  • The need for the Government to future-proof the aviation industry for the possibility of further variants of concern, and to support the development of sustainable aviation fuel. 
  • How road pricing could fill the £35 billion fiscal black hole caused by the loss of Vehicle Excise Duty and Fuel Duty from the transition to zero emission vehicles.
