The office of Huw Merriman recently attended the meeting for Southeastern Stakeholders to find out how the operator intends to provide a good service to residents in the Bexhill and Battle constituency along with finding improvements.
The issues raised on behalf of local rail users included:
-
How Southeastern deal with delays and communicate useful updates quickly to passengers
-
Ensuring Southeastern meet capacity demands and offer as comfortable a journey as possible
-
Making sure fares offer better value for money for passengers
-
Punctuality of services – ensuring more trains arrive on time.
The services to Battle, Robertsbridge, Etchingham and the South Coast have been operating at over 90% punctuality since May.
Southeastern recently wrote to Mr Merriman with an update on their developments, which you can see attached.
Whilst the improvement in punctuality is encouraging, Mr Merriman is determined to ensure the key issues of fares, passenger communication, frequency of services and comfort of travelling remain high priorities for Southeastern’s Hastings line services.
